Se tivesse de eleger um fotografo favorito..

Eis um dos poucos candidatos.

Ten years after a cruel day dawning that beyond heartache and suffering to many brought about a terrifying "Police - State" type of world. The globe has become dystopic as consequence but as with everything this evil shall pass, contrary to the recollection of a day in September and the just homage one should bear to victims of intolerance, greed and mindless slaughtering. This blog renders its respects with one thing further, two versions of a piece by Charlie Haden for the people of each fallen tower and a planet that has since then.. therefrom suffered.

Today I've been seeing (hearing) visions of Thoreau.. and such.

upon the shores..

« Charles Ives: Sonata No. 2 "Concord" - Thoreau »

In times of civil unrest, and liberation in the middle east ...

"... and I realized how you can have different definitions of words.."

painting by Tom Thomson  ("The Pool" - 1915 / 1916)

Marin Luther King:
« "I know you are asking today, "How long will it take?" Somebody's asking, "How long will prejudice blind the visions of men, darken their understanding, and drive bright-eyed wisdom from her sacred throne?" Somebody's asking, "When will wounded justice, lying prostrate on the streets ... and communities all over ..., be lifted from this dust of shame to reign supreme among the children of men?" Somebody's asking, "When will the radiant star of hope be plunged against the nocturnal bosom of this lonely night, plucked from weary souls with chains of fear and the manacles of death? How long will justice be crucified, and truth bear it?" I come to say to you this afternoon, however difficult the moment, however frustrating the hour, it will not be long, because "truth crushed to earth will rise again." How long? Not long, because "no lie can live forever." How long? Not long, because "you shall reap what you sow."

"How long? Not long, because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice."»

«The recent statements of your executive committee are the sentiments of my own heart, and I found myself in full accord when I read its opening lines: "A time comes when silence is betrayal." And that time has come for us in relation to Vietnam.

The truth of these words is beyond doubt, but the mission to which they call us is a most difficult one. Even when pressed by the demands of inner truth, men do not easily assume the task of opposing their government's policy, especially in time of war. Nor does the human spirit move without great difficulty against all the apathy of conformist thought within one's own bosom and in the surrounding world. Moreover, when the issues at hand seem as perplexing as they often do in the case of this dreadful conflict, we are always on the verge of being mesmerized by uncertainty; but we must move on.

And some of us who have already begun to break the silence of the night have found that the calling to speak is often a vocation of agony, but we must speak. We must speak with all the humility that is appropriate to our limited vision, but we must speak. And we must rejoice as well, for surely this is the first time in our nation's history that a significant number of its religious leaders have chosen to move beyond the prophesying of smooth patriotism to the high grounds of a firm dissent based upon the mandates of conscience and the reading of history. Perhaps a new spirit is rising among us. If it is, let us trace its movements and pray that our own inner being may be sensitive to its guidance, for we are deeply in need of a new way beyond the darkness that seems so close around us...»

MARTIN LUTHER KING One of Mankind's treasures regarding another..

Resonance - Liberation

I have walked the walk of millions,
of those who had fallen, of others who had not.
I've walked the ages,
counted each imprisoned breath born from ordinal numbers
and wept at your feet.

These wings on my back, tattered, worn,
Laced,
they hang with the dust of time,
hugging my body,
barely visible.

 Looking back,
Conquered, yet "Un-Conquested",
bedded upon endless gardens,
taken
mysteries nearly plundered
and unveiled...

I weep at your feet.

Legion surrounding the lake
as Aegle slumbering in grief, but in numbers,
a multitude of wooded beings,
sleeping,
I dreamt of you.

Rivers of time try to erase,
start anew
yet within the steadfast darkness
of my silence
I have heard your words in Morphic Resonance

- Come hither.. the world changes. Quick, hurry.. -
From the shores I return,
we
turn
return
turn
in turn
turnin-g

arriving at each new angle
360 degrees
... and back
and again
and back again.

Art Exhibit - Alice Valente

EN:

Portuguese visual artist and poet - Alice Valente (Alice Valente Alves)
will finally open her art show entitled "traço: Verde"
- VERDE (Portuguese for the word green) is the eighth colour brought to inhabit her ongoing project "CORPOtraçoCORPO"

This art show shall open on Saturday, October 23rd (2010) and will remain thus upto November 27th (2010). Here, by clicking following link you will get the coordinates in order to find the show's precise location (with map) - ESTAÇÃO BIOLÓGICA DO GARDUCHO

On the whole it is an interdisciplinary (or multidisciplinary) project begun by Alice Valent in 2003 in which she combines fine arts and poetry. She has already brought to life and exhibitted seven of her nine chosen hues, each one of them being depicted though nine painted/written works. The projects final sum should thus come to 81 paintings, each work being equally portrayed through a poem.

Later on, when the ninth colour is finally unveiled, a book containing images and poems of the project's entirety, or rather, images of the 81 painted works of art along with their respective written versions (poems) shall be published.

Previous and future shows are chiefly focussed on each of the nine colours that she has chosen to produce said project, and this project's full force shall be felt when its 9th and last "traço" is drawn up. (traço - from the portuguese word for trace, drawn line, or mark)
